Continental Training Center can also fund 75% to 100% of the training costs for SharePoint, Crystal Reports, SQL, AUTOCAD, and other classes through their State Contract.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY COME FROM?
In 1982, the California Legislature created the Employment Training Panel as a cooperative business-labor program. The original legislation establishing the ETP also established the Employment Training Tax (ETT). This requires that each private, for-profit California Employer pays one tenth of one percent (0.1%) of the first $7,000.00 of wages of each employer subject to unemployment insurance taxation. The funds generated from the ETT are then distributed by the ETP panel and are available to pay current full-time employees whose skills are becoming obsolete and for training new workers for full-time employment.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
To participate, the employer must have a valid California Employer Tax number, and be subject to the employment training tax. If an employer is a manufacturing company that company qualifies to participate in the training automatically. Companies also qualify if they meet any of the following criteria:
- Face out-of-state competition for the service or product they sell
- Corporate HQ is located in CA
- More than 20% of their sales are the outside of CA
- Provide technical support for locations outside of CA by employee’s located in CA.
- Mortgage Banking
- Destination Resort or Convention/Conference Center or Hotel
- Service Industry
For employees to qualify for the training, they must be fulltime employees working at least 35 hours per week (monthly average), and earning at least $13.70 per hour (benefits can be included to reach this minimum).
WHERE ARE THE CLASSES HELD?
Classes can be held at the employer's location when eight or more individuals will be trained at the same time. Otherwise, training will be held at Continental Training Center.
WHEN ARE THE CLASSES SCHEDULED?
Classes held at company locations are scheduled to meet according to an agreed upon schedule between the employer and Continental Training Center. Training conducted at the Citrus Heights location can be viewed at the MS Office schedule pages. These schedules are updated regularly, so check them often for updates.
